Insights from the HealthSync Launch Panel Discussion

Building a Connected, Patient-Centric Healthcare Future for Sri Lanka

As part of the official launch of HealthSync, we hosted a panel discussion focused on the future of digital healthcare, interoperability, patient-centered systems, and healthcare transformation in Sri Lanka.

We were honored to have an exceptional panel of healthcare, technology, and digital transformation leaders who shared valuable insights, experiences, and perspectives during the discussion.

Jayasanka Weerasinghe

Connected Healthcare Starts with the Patient

During the discussion, Mr. Jayasanka Weerasinghe highlighted the importance of ensuring healthcare systems are designed around the patient rather than disconnected institutions.

Two key insights he shared were:

“The biggest gap is that patient records do not follow the patient—it’s not just a technical issue, but a mindset shift we need to make.”

and

“In fragmented systems, the patient becomes the integration layer—but in connected systems, care becomes continuous, safe, and dignified.”

His perspectives reinforced the importance of interoperability, continuity of care, and building healthcare systems that reduce fragmentation for both patients and healthcare providers.

Dr. Dharmasri Kumaratunge

Trust and Interoperability Are Critical for Digital Transformation

Dr. Dharmasri Kumaratunge shared important perspectives on the broader challenges of scaling digital systems and driving meaningful adoption.

One of the key points he emphasized was the importance of interoperability and public awareness:

“Interoperability and awareness are just as critical as technology; without them, even the best systems will fail to scale.”

He also highlighted the importance of trust in digital platforms:

“Without trust, no digital system will succeed—reliability, security, and confidence are the foundation of adoption.”

His insights highlighted that successful digital healthcare systems require not only strong technology, but also public confidence, reliability, and accessibility.

Dr. Rohantha Athukorala

Adoption Is About People, Not Just Technology

Dr. Rohantha Athukorala shared valuable insights on digital adoption, behavioral change, and the future of data-driven healthcare.

One of the key messages he highlighted was:

“Adoption isn’t about technology—it’s about human behavior. People embrace systems only when they clearly see the benefit to their lives.”

He also emphasized the growing importance of healthcare data and insights:

“The future of healthcare is data-driven—decisions must move from experience-based to insight-led.”

His perspectives highlighted the importance of designing healthcare technology that is practical, understandable, and meaningful to everyday users.

Moving Toward a More Connected Healthcare Future

The panel discussion highlighted a shared vision for the future of healthcare in Sri Lanka:

  • Better continuity of care
  • Connected healthcare systems
  • Patient-centered digital experiences
  • Improved accessibility of health information
  • Greater trust and adoption of digital health technologies

We extend our sincere gratitude to all our panelists for contributing to this important discussion and for supporting the vision behind HealthSync.

As Sri Lanka continues its digital healthcare journey, conversations like these play an important role in shaping a more connected, accessible, and patient-centric healthcare ecosystem for the future.
